A transparent PNG is text with nothing behind it. Put it on a photo, a video thumbnail, a coloured banner or a slide and only the letters show - no white box, no hard edges. That is the one thing JPG cannot do, and the reason designers reach for PNG every time text has to sit on top of something else.

How to make a Transparent Text PNG

  1. Type your text. Press Enter for a second line; each line is centred.
  2. Pick a font from the list. Bold display faces such as Bebas Neue or Anton read best over busy backgrounds.
  3. Choose the text colour. If it will sit on a photo, add a thin outline in a contrasting colour so it stays legible.
  4. Press Download PNG. The file is saved at twice the preview size, so it stays sharp when scaled.

Common questions

Yes. The PNG has an alpha channel; the checkerboard you see in the preview is only there to show you which parts are see-through. Open the file in any image editor and there is no background layer at all.
PNG is a bitmap, so enlarging it past its saved size softens the edges. Set a larger font size here before downloading instead - the file is exported at 2x the preview, and sizes up to 300px are fine.
