Terms and Conditions ("Terms")
The rules for using this site – what you may do with what you generate, and what we do and do not promise.
Last updated: 27 August 2026
These Terms apply to www.thefancytext.com and everything on it – the tools, the JSON API and the npm package (the "Service"). Using the Service means you accept them. If you do not, please do not use it.
Using the site
Everything here is free and there is no account to create. You may use the tools for personal or commercial work – a business bio, a client's graphic, a product listing – without asking us and without paying anything.
You must be old enough to agree to these Terms where you live. The site is not aimed at children under 13; see the privacy policy.
The text you generate
What you make here is yours. We claim no ownership of the text you type or of the styled result, ask for no credit, and place no restriction on where you use it. There is no licence to accept, because there is nothing to license: the tools rearrange your own words into characters that are part of the Unicode standard and belong to nobody.
A practical caveat rather than a legal one: these styles are Unicode characters, not fonts. Whether they display depends on the app and device someone is reading on, and some platforms strip or reject them. We cannot promise a style will show up correctly anywhere in particular, and it is worth testing before you rely on one.
Acceptable use
Do not use the Service to:
- impersonate someone else, or pass off styled text as verification, endorsement or an official account you do not hold;
- harass, threaten, defame or abuse anyone;
- evade a moderation, spam or content filter on another platform;
- break the law where you are, or the terms of the service you paste into;
- scrape, overload, probe or disrupt the site, or work around any limit on it;
- republish the site's tools as your own, whether by copying the code or by wrapping the API in a competing service.
We may block access without notice if any of this happens. We would rather email first, so if something you are doing looks like abuse but is not, tell us.
The API and npm package
The JSON API at /api/font is open and unauthenticated, and the
developer documentation
explains how to call it. It is offered on the same terms as the rest of the site:
free, as is, and with no guarantee it will stay unchanged.
There is no published rate limit, but it runs on ordinary shared hosting. Cache what you can, prefer one large request to many small ones, and get in touch before anything high-volume so it does not look like an attack. We may rate-limit or block a client that puts the site at risk.
The fancy-text-generator npm package is published separately under the
ISC licence, and that licence – not these Terms – governs what you may
do with its code.
Our content
The site's name, design, written guides and code are ours. Please do not copy the site wholesale or present it as your own. Quoting a paragraph with a link back is fine and always welcome.
Advertising
The tools are free because the site carries advertising. We do not control which ads appear and do not endorse the advertisers. What data those ads may collect is covered in the privacy policy.
Links to other sites
We link out to third-party sites and services we do not own or control. We are not responsible for their content, their privacy practices or anything that happens to you there, and we recommend reading their own terms before using them.
Availability
We try to keep the site up but cannot promise it. Tools may be changed, renamed or removed, styles may be added or dropped, and the API's response may gain fields over time. Nothing here is a commitment to keep any particular feature running, and there is no service level attached to a free tool.
No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted or error-free operation. You use it at your own risk.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the Service – including lost profits, lost data, or a post, listing or account affected by text generated here.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Maharashtra, India, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. If a provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in effect, and our not enforcing a right is not a waiver of it.
Together with the privacy policy, these Terms are the entire agreement between us about the Service and replace any earlier version.
Changes to these Terms
We may modify or replace these Terms at any time. Where a revision is material we will try to give at least 30 days' notice before it takes effect, and the date at the top of this page changes with every edit. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the revised Terms; if you do not, please stop using it.
