What this site is

www.thefancytext.com turns ordinary text into styles you can paste anywhere – an Instagram bio, a Discord name, a spreadsheet header. Type once, click the style you want, paste it. There is no account, no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how much you convert.

Type styles, collected in one place

It started in 2019 as one page that did one thing. It is now more than sixty tools: font styles, symbols and kaomoji, name generators, case and text converters, ASCII art, and a set that renders text to a PNG image.

How it actually works

This is the part most sites like this leave vague, and it explains nearly every question we get.

These are not fonts. A website cannot change the font inside someone else's app. What the generator does is swap each letter for a different character that already exists in Unicode – the standard behind every character your device can display. The bold "𝗮" is not an "a" in a bold font; it is a separate character called Mathematical Sans-Serif Bold Small A.

That is why the result survives copy and paste into apps that give you no formatting options at all. It is also why a style sometimes shows as empty boxes: the device reading it has no glyph for those characters. Nothing is broken – the text is intact and will display correctly elsewhere.

A practical consequence worth knowing: screen readers announce these characters literally or skip them. Styled text is fine for a name or a short line, but keep the body of anything important in plain letters so it stays readable to everyone.

Text you type into a generator is sent to our server, converted, and sent straight back – it is not stored. The PNG text generator is the exception: it draws entirely in your browser and sends nothing at all. The privacy policy sets out exactly what is and is not kept.

For developers

The same generator is available as a JSON API. One POST returns all 300 styles for a piece of text, with no key and no sign-up – the developer documentation covers the parameters, the response and the error codes.

There is also a small npm package, fancy-text-generator, for when you would rather not make a network call. It is a single dependency-free function covering 16 styles, published under the ISC licence.

Who makes it

The site is built and maintained by one developer, not a company or a content team. Every tool here was written because it was missing somewhere else, and the guides are written by the same person who wrote the code – which is why they tend to explain the awkward parts, like why a style breaks on one platform and not another, instead of skipping them.

If a style is wrong, a tool misbehaves, or something you need is missing, tell us. Reports from people using these on real accounts are how most of the fixes here started.

How it stays free

Advertising pays for the hosting. That is the whole business model: no paid tier, no upsell, nothing held back behind a sign-up, and nothing about you sold to anyone. If you would rather not see ads, a blocker is fine by us – the tools work either way.

The pages people use most are the font generator for styles, the emoji keyboard for symbols, and the png text generator for saving words as an image.

Business enquiries and partnerships go to classstatus0@gmail.com.

Frequently asked questions

A small independent team that builds and maintains the tools here. There is no agency behind it and no venture funding - it is a side project that grew. You can reach us through the contact page.

Yes. Every tool on the site is free with no account, no sign-up and no usage limit. Advertising covers the hosting.

No. Almost every tool runs entirely in your browser, so the text never reaches a server at all. The font API is the exception - it receives the text you send it in order to style it, and does not keep it.

Yes. The styles are made from standard Unicode characters rather than licensed font files, so there is nothing to license, no fee and no attribution required.

Because they are not fonts. Each style uses characters that already exist in Unicode - mathematical script, fraktur, circled and full-width letters - so pasting them is just pasting text, and the app has no say in it.

Yes, a free JSON API with no key or sign-up, plus an npm package for Node.js. The developer documentation has the endpoint reference and worked examples.
